Sky-high sailor's shot of the snowy lake scene
Long-standing member, Peter David, took this extraordinary photo of Llangorse Lake at height of 4,000 feet on 5th January. Peter has sailed and raced a Fireball, a Flying Fifteen and a Taser, (probably more) and now has a Solo. He is also a highly experienced "big-boat sailor".
The photo beautifully shows how the dusting of snow accentuates the field-boundaries surrounding the lake. Ice-cover can be seen at the top of the lake (from this view) - around the entrance to the sailing club lagoon (which was frozen-over at the time).
For those unfamiliar with Llangorse Lake, the top of the photo is north-west. The lake normally occupies about 400 acres - at this time of the year even more.
Peter's microlight aircraft can be seen in the photo below. It must have been a bit chilly up there, Peter!
